What is the YLiS award scheme?
The Lions YLiS award recognises young people between the ages of 11-18 years old for their service to the community.
Each young person is provided with a ‘logbook’ in which to record their service activities. These need to ‘signed off’ by a responsible adult, who can be a teacher, youth leader, charity shop manager, parent or someone similarly responsible.
The service activities are in several different categories – all the hours can be from the same activity or from a variety of services.
Categories could include service to the young, helping at school clubs, charity shops or Brownies; Rainbows, or cubs and beavers; helping the elderly, family members or the homeless and hungry. It could also include protecting our environment and more. Young people may also wish to assist our local Lions club in the furniture store on Saturday mornings, fundraising or welfare activities. All these activities count as hours towards their award.
The Lions YLiS award is sponsored by Kenilworth Lions club. The awards available are as follows:
- 250 hours of service = Platinum Award
