The following donations were recommended by Kenilworth Lions’ Community Services Committee and agreed unanimously by Lions’ members at the May club meeting:
- Two donations of £300 were agreed for WCC Children’s Services and Warwick and Leamington Welcome Here for the purchase and installation of washing machines for a needy family and an Iranian refugee.
- A grant of £100 was given to 12th Kenilworth Brownies for a disadvantaged participant at a Brownies’ away weekend.
- A donation of £1,000 was given to Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) towards their appeal for the earthquake in Taipei, Taiwan.
- An additional grant of £3,000 was awarded to the Leamington Polish Centre to collaborate in funding the purchase, refurbishment and delivery of an ambulance to Ukraine. This ‘tops up’ the £3,000 already pledged by the club towards this project.
- A pledge of £500 was given to the Talisman Theatre to fund the purchase of sensory bags for people with additional needs attending special pantomime performances.
- Four Furniture Store vouchers amounting to £690 were awarded to disadvantage families.
- A total of £4,700 has been donated or pledged this month, excluding the vouchers.
