Pride of Lions grants – April 2024

The following donations were recommended by Kenilworth Lions’ Community Services Committee and agreed unanimously by Lions’ members at the April club meeting:

  1. A donation of £1,000 was agreed for Kenilworth Illuminations Committee which will provide funds to support the High Street lights community event 2024.
  1. Grants of £500 each were agreed, on behalf of the Lions’ Bazaar Team, for Rufus’ Friends’ Funds who provide day-activities, breaks and holidays for families, local to Warwickshire, that have a member with learning disabilities, and the Aylesford Cancer Unit at Warwick Hospital to support the purchase of two cold caps, helping to reduce hair loss during chemotherapy treatment.
  1. A grant of £495 was made to Deborah Thomas Physiotherapy to cover rental costs for exercise classes aimed at people with physical and mental health needs, run in conjunction with Compassionate Kenilworth.
  1. A donation of £600 was made to Friends of Abbey Fields to support the provision of children’s nature days during the summer holidays.
  1. A donation of £399 was made to Warwickshire County Council Family Information Service to fund the purchase and installation of a gas cooker for a disadvantaged Kenilworth family.
  1. A donation of £1,000 was awarded to Education4all 23 CIC to provide funds for teaching initiatives, workshops and educational visits for newly arrived communities in the Kenilworth area.
  1. A Furniture Store voucher for £250 was awarded to the Homes for Ukrainian Team.
  1. A total of £4,494 has been donated or pledged this month, excluding the voucher.
