This coming Saturday (9th June), Kenilworth folk in their thousands will be streaming into Abbey Fields for the annual Kenilworth Lions Grand Show. Months of planning and preparation culminate in this hugely popular event for all the family, one of the highlights of the Kenilworth annual calendar.
Things get going at 12.30 pm, and go on all afternoon. This year the Show will be opened by the Deputy Town Mayor, Cllr Patricia Cain, who will arrive in the now customary way in a cavalcade of motor tricycles, which will process through the town on the way to the Abbey Fields.
During the afternoon there will be a wide range of acts performing on the stage and in the main arena, including the Royal Spa Brass Band, the Whitemans Dance Academy, the Unlikely, Kenilworth School, Viva Dance, Romany Pie, Magic Voices, and even Elvis! As always there will be a very wide range of stalls to visit, from many local charity/voluntary organisations and local businesses.
Entrance to the Show is completely free! Parking will be available off Forrest Road for a small fee, organised and marshalled by local scouts.
The main sponsors of this year’s Show are Penman Solicitors, Boothroyds Estate Agents, Damian Plant Solicitors, and Aromatics of Kenilworth.
At the end of the afternoon the draw for the Grand Show Raffle will be made by the Deputy Mayor, with many excellent prizes donated by local businesses.
The weather forecast for Saturday is looking pretty good at the moment, so we’re keeping our fingers crossed! Whatever the weather, though, it will be a great day out for all the family. See you there!
