The annual Lions Grand Show in Abbey Fields is less than four weeks away now, and everything is prepared to make it as enjoyable for everyone as ever. The Show takes place on Saturday 8th June, starting at 12.30pm and continuing on through the afternoon and evening. Admission is free.
The afternoon programme includes the arrival of the Mayor by motor tricycle to open the Show, marching bands, ‘Bruce Airhead’ balloon artist, dance demonstrations and a birds of prey demonstration.
A particular feature of the afternoon will be a Fun Family Dog Show organised by Dogs for Good, to be judged in four categories – Most Handsome Boy Dog, Prettiest Girl dog, Waggiest Tail (Happiest Dog) and Dog The Judge Wants To Take Home. Entry tickets will be available on the day, so bring your dogs and let them enjoy the Show too!
There will be a wide variety of stalls run by local charities, businesses and clubs, together with children’s games and other entertainments.
The evening programme consists of live music from the stage, featuring three local groups. A variety of food and drink options will be available throughout the afternoon and evening.
The whole Show will be compered by the team from Radio Abbey, Kenilworth’s own internet radio station which broadcasts from the Kenilworth Centre.
Ahead of the Show, Lions Club members will be delivering thousands of free programmes door-to-door across the town, with full details of the order of events and the list of stallholders. There will be a Lucky Programme Prize Draw on the day, so please remember to bring your copy with you. If you are not able to come, please pass on your programme to someone who can.
From this Friday (17th May), Lions Club members will be selling Grand Show raffle tickets outside the town’s two main supermarkets and at the weekly market. Tickets cost £1 each, with a wide range of prizes.
Kenilworth Lions Club is celebrating its 50th anniversary throughout 2019, and is determined that this year’s Grand Show will be the biggest and best yet! Please come and support us, and have a great day out for all the family.
