Kenilworth Lions have teamed up with the UK-based charity Hand in Hand for Syria to organise a donation of much-needed furniture and supplies to help set up new and replacement hospital facilities inside Syria. All items had been donated to the Lions by local people.
A team of volunteers from the ‘Hand in Hand’ charity turned up at the Lions’ Furniture Store in Farmer Ward Road on Saturday, to fill up their van with a large quantity of mattresses and beds, children’s cots and other items. These will then be consolidated with other donations at the charity’s depot in Birmingham, and shipped by container to Syria where another team based inside the country will distribute them to where they are desperately needed.
Kenilworth Lions are delighted to have been able to help the beleaguered Syrian people in this practical way, and hope to do so again in the future.
